Staff Profile – Amanda Thorne

Amanda Thorne is integral in the Swanline Group team and has been working at Swanline for over 18 years. Amanda started at Swanline as an Accounts Administrator in 2003 and made her way up to P.A. to the Directors in 2015 and recently made the change to Accounts and Office Executive this year.

Before Swanline, Amanda’s background was mostly in Customer Service and began working at Kirby Cartons as an Accounts Administrator/Receptionist before making her move to Swanline.

Amanda’s role is vast, and she is a self-proclaimed ‘multitasker’. Amanda manages the office while screening and directing calls as well as purchasing for various departments, which includes sourcing and ordering stationery and office equipment. She also deals with accounts, monthly payroll, and diary management for room bookings. On top of this, she also organises meetings, visitors, lunches and travel and accommodation. There isn’t much that Amanda doesn’t do!

Amanda says: “The people are definitely my favourite part of working at Swanline, and because of this I struggle to pinpoint a favourite moment in my 18 years here. All the good day to day experiences of mine is shared with and because of my colleagues.”

In her spare time Amanda loves cooking and baking and loves experimenting with new dishes rather than sticking to a favourite meal. Since her son left for university, the majority of baking that Amanda does now is making dog biscuits for her standard schnauzer, Oskar!

Amanda says her favourite quote is “Be grateful for what you have and enjoy your life when you can as it’s far too short.”
